Painting in the Plaza hosted by Mary Quirolo
Saturday Sept 28, about 10:00 AM, I plan to go out into the Las Vegas Plaza and sketch the scenes. If any BAOA members, guests, spouses etc. want to join me, DO! I plan to bring a lot of extra paper and pens and markers and paint and brushes and a few clipboards, just on the off-chance that some of you might want join in.
There’s lots to draw or paint: great architecture, people strolling and shopping and shooting the breeze, greenery—which may be turning gold about then—and of course the British cars! Many of the cars will be on the rally, but not all, so there will be cars if you want to paint or sketch them. The rally cars will begin to return around 12:30, and many will park right around the Plaza. Later, around 2:30, most will drive over to the Castaneda Hotel for the big car show—and it is a great show!
Fun Fact: At least three New Mexico Watercolor Society people have already made hotel reservations in Las Vegas, specifically to come up to see the cars at the Rendezvous and to sketch or paint in and around the Plaza. Sketchers and painters are an outstandingly un-intimidating bunch and this is all just for fun. Drawing and painting outdoors is kind of like being in kindergarten again…with no need to Show Your Work.
